Image Ideology

Facts or precious little image?  The problem that I see with some people is that they let their image get in the way of the most important thing in business-the facts of the matter.  For a long time, people have identified with the successful business person according to what they wear, and not what they invest in on the job.  I don't see myself getting a sale because of what I wear because people are not buying an outfit in the first place.

The internet is full of retail sausage heads who use image to try to do the work for them.  I agree with Riso and Hudson when they say that image rules the game in this day and age.  I think it is sad to say that some people idealize themselves according to their image-not their performance.

On the other hand, taking things to the opposite extreme (as in a hive full of bee's) isn't good either.

Image plays too important of a role in determining things like where a person is at with the producer/consumer balance.  Image can't be consumed, yet advertisers know that presenting a consistent and easily identifiable image will bring in sales.  I'm not against this, I think that a little dab of image here, and a little dab there is better because it leaves room for people to make their own decision apart from their senses being all wrapped up with their awareness.  What really sways people over to the consumer side of the producer/consumer balance?  Image, in my opinion does not turn a person's mind, quality does.
